Decoding natural phenomena into artistic abstract paintings

Description:
This is the prototype of an environmental decoder that automates the process of producing abstrac expressionism, it is founded on a proposed connection between the artists Jean Tinguely and Jackson Pollock.
The Decoder has several sensors attached to it, allowing the recognition of subtle changes in its natural surroundings. The collected data is then analysed in a custom Arduino based software which converts the information into a color spectrum and then ejects it droplet by droplet into a fluid and live canvas.
The prototype was tested in the Park an der Ilm in Weimar. The results represent an abstract depiction of changes in temperature, humidity, water flow and light. The spectator has the chance of capturing the piece at any moment by laying over a piece of canvas, the colors will then get printed on the surface and the process starts once again.
